Demonstration by Natalia Bertelli
Natalia will be demonstrating her process to create expressive abstract portraits, using vibrant colours and her signature energetic mark making. For this demo she will be using acrylic paints in two different ways; the dripping method and palette knife application.
About the Artist
Natalia is an Argentinian visual artist based in Broadbeach. Curious and spontaneous in essence, has experimented with various mediums such as oils, fluid acrylics even spray paint and stencils. She loves bold and vibrant colours and mixes them in an intuitive manner. A lifelong traveller, Natalia is passionate about discovering the intricacies of different cultures and people around the world. Her portraits move beyond the physical exterior of the subjects and delve into the emotions and experiences that lie below. Painting allows her to explore and express her true and raw self, representing the imperfectly perfect beauty, vulnerabilities, and resilience of her subjects. A nomad of sorts appears to have taken the colours of the different cultures she has encountered in her many years of globe-trotting and channelled them into her portraits.
