2024 Is Our 20th Year!

Hello friends

This year The Doyles Art Award will be running its 20th annual art award and exhibition. Our team is so excited and privileged to once again celebrate Australian representational fine art.

For those of you who have entered before, we hope to see your new work. It is always quite wonderful perusing the variety of work artists have created in a year, and to witness first hand the personal changes and growth which are very often evident in the artistry.

For newcomers to the award, we extend you a warm welcome. We are a not for profit organisation run by volunteers who are passionate about the arts, many of whom are artists themselves, and we strive at all times to deliver a superior quality exhibition experience. We wish you the very best of luck with your entry. (Entries open 1 March)

It is not without its challenges, to bring together an exhibition that hangs in excess of 300 artworks in a historic School of Arts building in a beautiful quaint village on the Gold Coast. So for the team that I work alongside, and serve – our volunteers, committee members and supporters – you have my thanks for your loyalty and commitment to an event that delivers so much to the arts community, but also encourages visitation to local businesses.

Without the flexibility of the hall managers, who have to block out a 10 day timeframe in their annual calendar for us to occupy, we would not have a space to exhibit. Without the assistance of the volunteer team, we wouldn’t be able to man the exhibition nor hang it. Without the financial support of our sponsors, we would not be able to afford the hire of equipment to do absolutely any of it. I express my gratitude to you all, and implore you once again for your assistance for our 20th event.

This year we have facilitated a few additional activities to run alongside the exhibition. We have organised a series of workshops to be run by Artable in Mudgeeraba for artists or aspiring artists. Rebecca Cunningham from Life Drawing Sessions is going to run one of her famous life drawings in the village. Urban Sketchers are visiting on a Saturday morning to sketch the town. Plus there will be Paint and Sips, children’s activities and more. Watch our “Event” space for details as they become available. (These events will be ticketed by the individual organisers.)

Our annual exhibition catalogue is given freely to visitors to the exhibition. If you are interested in showcasing your business to this audience, we have advertising space available. Please contact us for rates.

You can find the details for the entry dates, exhibition dates, artwork criteria and terms and conditions on our website. The form for entries will become live on 1 March. Until then it will not be visible.
