Listening to Earth (I)

Oil on Canvas

A few years ago I had the opportunity to travel to the Northern Territory. Over the next few years, I worked to express those experiences through paintings, and this painting is one of a series.
This view is seen from halfway between Kings Canyon and Uluru. The dark red dirt was constantly whispering something to me. I couldn't understand what the whispers were, but I just remember standing there frozen and crying. Perhaps that mysterious experience will never be forgotten.

Size: 122 × 102 cm

About Christine Choi

I am a Sydney based artist who loves to paint mainly Australian landscape. My focus on painting is the vast spaces of the Australian landscape, with a specific focus on light and colour. Experiencing the changing land in NSW, South Australia and the Northern Territory provides me with a range of inspiration to develop paintings that aim to capture the spirit of the land.
