Karena Dalla Rosa
Heritage Landing, Tasmania

oil on canvas

Using a boardwalk to bear witness to the ancient rainforest at Heritage Landing ensures the risk-reduction of pathogens, disease and weeds affecting the ecosystem. While being sensorily exposed to the temperate air, smells and sounds, it nevertheless creates an experience of viewing from a distance. The immersion is necessarily controlled and curated.

I have worked this piece with many marks and a deliberate use of textural paint application. I hope the viewer can imagine the same dynamic sensorial experience; to breathe the air, take in the soundscape and witness the verdant, dense layering of flora in its pristine and natural state.

Size: 124 × 94 cm
