Tasting the Rainbow

Oil on canvas

'Tasting the Rainbow' is a portrait of my son at the age of two, capturing a tender and whimsical moment when a rainbow is reflected across his face. He was fascinated by rainbow reflections and would often search for them around the house with delight. In this image, the rainbow lands gently over his mouth, as if he’s playfully tasting the colours. The piece invites viewers to see the world through a child’s eyes - where even light becomes something to taste and explore.

Size: 30 × 30 cm

About Elizabeth Dodds

I was born and raised in London and moved to Australia in 2015. Originally a doctor by trade, I have been passionate about art from a young age, and was inspired by the beautiful landscape paintings created by my mother.

I am inspired by the beauty and vibrancy of nature and love using oil paint to create detailed images from photographs, with flora, water and landscapes taking prominence. From my studio here in the Gold Coast, I love to create glistening poolside and coastal scenes and vibrant botanicals that aim to transport viewers and instantly transform any space.
