I am drawn to the quieter landscapes of the far North, where I often find scenes that have composed themselves into an interesting mix of landforms, trees, with glimpses of rainforest, sky, sea and clouds. Wet season mists can lend an air of mystery to the coastline muting colours.. enfolding , yet isolating, giving the sensation of being marooned. …. Gazing at this view for days and weeks on end can have a cathartic effect that generates a raw and primal reunion with nature- a place for reflection, reverence, calm and restoration.

Since re-locating from the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria to Far North Qld in 2018, Rose has been a finalist in several prestigious art prizes including the Glover Prize, John Villiers Art Prize, Soho Art Awards, Lethbridge Landscape Awards and The Doyles Art Prize. She has also won awards such as the Hinchinbrook Annual Art Prize, Central Highlands Art Awards, Mission Arts Annual, and CAS Art Awards including this year’s Cairns Art Society Annual Awards 2025 for Best Oil. Rose has held successful Solo Exhibitions at Tanks Art Centre Cairns, Tableland Regional Gallery, Hinchinbrook Regional Gallery and Mission Beach Arts.
