Quiet observer

oil paint on canvas

I am a Victorian artist working in oil paints on canvas, drawing inspiration from time spent birding in my local parks and the Australian bush. My paintings begin with original photographic images and foraged flora captured on those quiet walks; moments where birds and native flora reveal themselves in fleeting, sunlit compositions, translated onto canvas with brush and palette knife to create a pleasing, textured surface that evokes the textures of the natural world.

"Quiet Observer" represents one of those moments.

About Kirsty McIntyre

Kirsty McIntyre is a Melbourne based artist working mainly with palette knife and oil paint on canvas, featuring Australian flora and native birds. Described in the Canberra Times; “McIntyre’s use of pattern is beautifully controlled. The artist’s use of an intense light suffuses the overall composition allowing each element to be clearly delineated and hold pictorial autonomy. Light also imbues a sense of McIntyre's capturing a moment in time."

Exhibiting since 2019, Kirsty has held solo exhibitions at Grainger gallery, The Moree Gallery and Satch&Co gallery, and been a finalist in the Lethbridge, Omnia and Tacit gallery prizes
