Southern Solitude
Acrylic on canvas
Southern Solitude is a reflection on the quiet strength and stillness found along the Fleurieu Peninsula’s rugged coastline. Drawn to the raw, untamed beauty of this southern landscape, I tried to capture a sense of emotional solitude—where the shoreline breathes a moment of stillness. The gentle contours, light tracing patterns across the land, and earthy hues evoke both the physical atmosphere and the internal experience of being present in nature. As with much of my work, this painting is not just a record of place but a response to the feeling it evokes: solitude as a form of resilience, reflection, and renewal. The Fleurieu’s beaches hold a quiet power that resonates deeply with my ongoing exploration of regional Australian landscapes and the stories they carry.
Size: 93 × 64 cm
