Boodjamulla National Park, with its Lawn Hill Gorge landscape, gave me the presence of the historical ancient time, a rich, deep understanding of the country conveyed by Traditional Owners, and I felt it was present the whole time I was walking for kilometres at times. The deep connection, both in physical and spiritual sense, is a source of inspiration and as important places carrying the histories and stories of those who have walked these lands for many thousands of years.
While connecting with the cycles and the rhythms of nature, life, and land, I was also fully aware of the crocodiles in the water or along the banks of the rivers, with no time here for plein air painting. And with snakes in the grasses, it brings all the scenes to attention for where I was and what I was doing with appreciation and respect for First Nations People.
