Keeping Watch captures a quiet moment of alertness on K’gari (Fraser Island). Working from my own reference, I was drawn to this dingos activity—its body engaged in digging, likely following the scent of a buried fish carcass, yet its gaze never fully leaving me. Always watchful. Rendered in soft pastel, layered textures reflect the warmth and variation of the coat against the pale sands. This piece speaks to the delicate balance between wildlife and human presence on the island—an animal alert, adaptive, and often misunderstood.
