Often when people come to see a lawyer, they are faced with an extremely tough time in their lives.
Whether it is a dispute, a serious injury, divorce, or death of a loved one, the staff at Attwood Marshall Lawyers understand how overwhelming it can be having to turn to a lawyer to get the help needed to move forward from such an ordeal.
That’s not to say all legal matters are dire. Attwood Marshall Lawyers are also proud to help businesses thrive, help people plan for the future and preserve their wishes, and help investors and house hunters secure their dream home.
The firm leads a purpose-driven workplace, with its renowned intent being to help people and change their lives for the better.
Attwood Marshall Lawyers has been linked to some of the most iconic cases including a famous case involving US Scuba divers Tom and Irene Lonergan who disappeared while on a guided diving excursion off Cairns, which ultimately was the subject of a Hollywood movie.
Other landmark cases that the firm has achieved successful outcomes include a class action undertaken on behalf of more than 2,000 Australian women who had suffered an injury following silicon breast implant surgery, fighting against a billion-dollar company to uphold the legal rights of a social worker who was assaulted at the Manus Island Detention Centre in 2014, and facilitating the sale of Jewel of the Kimberley, the iconic Lake Argyle Resort for $31 million in 2022.
In addition to providing exceptional legal services, Attwood Marshall Lawyers also takes great pride in playing a key role in educating the community about important issues that impact the most vulnerable people in society. The firm has previously called for an inquiry into the conduct of NSW Trustee & Guardian as well as The Public Trustee of Queensland, bringing to light some of the horror stories many people face when dealing with these government instrumentalities. Attwood Marshall Lawyers’ demand for an inquiry in 2019 was backed by politicians and received widespread support. After years of misconduct, The QLD Public Advocate finally reviewed the Public Trustee’s fees, charges, and practices, and shone a spotlight on the fact this institution does not meet its fiduciary obligations, nor do they meet modern expectations amongst the community.
Partner and Head of the Aged Care department, Debbie Sage, also presented at the recent Queensland Government Parliamentary Inquiry into Elder Abuse, advocating for stronger protections for our older community members.
The firm is dedicated to continuing to speak out about issues such as these to ensure the community is kept informed and understand their rights and where to turn for support if needed.
With a rich history, a strong connection to the local community, a drive to innovate and embrace change, and commitment to providing the highest-quality customer experience, Attwood Marshall Lawyers are proud to continue to serve the community after 80 years.
