A Farmer’s Grit

The Australian farmers are the true warriors of this land.
They live a life that most soft city and suburban folks could not comprehend or survive. A life of total commitment whilst running the risk that each year a failed crop could mean the end of it all. It takes a tough breed to work the land and survive.
In the effort to produce vital crops for our country’s needs the farmer has many potential foes … Drought, floods, fire, pests, Gov regulation, rising costs, government restrictions/redtape, lower saleprices and increasing bank interest rates.
In many cases these bills are met only after the sale of a successful crop.
We have to support our farmers for their future ,..and for ours.
In this piece “ A Farmers grit” I attempt to portray a character projecting the hardened, calm determination of a man honed by a challenging life on the land.
