Anticipation
oil
I got inspiration at Carnarvon Gorge, looking at the creek and quietly anticipating when the platypus would comes out and in... capturing the moment the platypus disappears in the reflection of the trees.
I challenged myself to explore how to maximise the effect of moving water by layering different moments. So the water is not looking still, but moving on the 2D surface.
Size: 100 × 76 cm
$6000

About Ai Shah
After growing up in Japan, I moved to Australia in 2005. The beauty of the Australian landscape struck me deeply, so I started to paint. Over time, I have become especially interested in water as a subject – learning how to observe the water and how to express it on canvas.
