Arrhythmia

Charcoal

Arrhythmia reflects the tension between control and unpredictability, inspired by my time aboard a support boat for an M32 during Airlie Beach Race Week. The scattered sails on the horizon reminded me of an irregular heartbeat—echoing the surging adrenaline of wind, speed, and shifting tides. Originally captured in full-colour photography, I reinterpreted the image using charcoal in a panoramic format to evoke a more visceral, emotional response. The transition to grayscale emphasises contrast, rhythm, and mood, stripping the scene to its essential energy. This work embodies my fascination with fleeting moments and the subtle, often chaotic forces that shape our experiences.
