Austinville post Alfred
Water colour and Gouche on paper
This painting is based on a photo I took at a place I visit most mornings before starting my day. It's a space that has always brought me peace.
I recently experienced the tragic loss of a close friend. We used to take walks through places like this, sharing conversations about life and mental health. These quiet, natural backdrops offered us both a kind of healing, a place to mentally reset from the chaos of the world.
Since the cyclone the area has changed. Fallen trees and scattered debris now line the forest floor. But even in this altered state, there's a raw, striking beauty. The fallen trees, though no longer standing tall, are now serving new purposes in the ecosystem, a gentle reminder that even in loss, there can be renewal.
