Julie McVarnock
Bay of Fires, Tasmania

oil

The Bay of Fires is on the East Coast of Tasmania stretching for fifty kilometres, around the area of Binalong Bay. The huge rocks come in a variety of shapes and sizes and they have orange coloured lichen which look like they have been painted.
Apparently the name Bay of Fires, isn't named after the orange colour of the rocks, but was named when Captain Tobias Furneaux sailed past in
1773, spotting Aboriginal fires lighting up the coastline.
I was very fortunate to visit the area in February, this year.

Size: 60 × 50 cm

$680
