Corinne Lewis
Cream
Oil on Linen
Corinne’s painting celebrates the textures and symbols of femininity. Vintage florals and composed gestures evoke themes of beauty, identity and self-possession. The focus is on creamy textures, sweet tastes and the allure of indulgent experiences…the whipped, frosted dessert becomes a feast for the eyes suggesting that the visual presentation is as fulfilling as the taste. As refined as the dessert, the female’s voluptuous lips and suggestive poise create a narrative which suggests it is almost too good to eat. Decadent and sumptuous, opulent and elegant Corinne has used sensory language that bridges the gap between sight and taste framing the dessert as an artistic experience triggering the impulsive desire of eating with your eyes. The dessert is a silent serenade and she is its captivated audience.
