Flicker of the Bush Spirits: Whisper
Oil on canvas
For me, the Australian bush is a sacred sanctuary—a living, breathing church where I feel most spiritually connected and deeply grounded. In this work, I seek to express that profound reverence and the quiet holiness I experience when surrounded by native flora. The bush offers more than beauty; it offers stillness, healing, and communion. This work is a painted prayer, a meditation on breath, spirit, and light. The glass jar, both vessel and reliquary, holds not just stems but presence—capturing flickers of something greater, intangible, and timeless. The leaves and flowers are my hymns, and the play of light and shadow is the stained glass of this natural cathedral. Through layered brushwork and rich textures, I invite the viewer into my place of worship, to witness the sacred rhythms of the land and to feel, if only for a moment, the breath of the bush spirits.
