Good Morning Old Friend
Acrylic on board
This piece, along with others in my collections, explores connection through shared experiences and the familiarity we hold with certain places. Growing up on a farm in WA, I learned early how landscapes shape us — how a place can feel both ordinary and extraordinary, and how returning to it can stir something instantly recognisable. Much of my inspiration now comes from the coastal towns I visit regularly with family — long drives, the first glimpse of the ocean, the scent of salted air, and the ritual of returning to the same beaches year after year. "Good Morning Old Friend" captures one of those ordinary yet treasured moments at the heart of my coastal work. These experiences settle into us over time, becoming part of our personal geography. Through colour and layered marks, I explore the connections we build with the people we love and the places we return to.
