High Country Morning Mist
oil on canvas
In this work I sought to capture the ethereal stillness of the first light in the high country. A hush lies over the forrest as first light breaks through the mist.
Soft beams drift through towering gums, touching the creek below-a silver thread winding at the feet of the mountains.
This painting is a quiet homage to the stillness of dawn-the breath between night and day, where the mist lifts and the first rays of the sun filter softly through the gums, the forrest begins its slow and quite awakening.
I wanted to capture not just a scene but a feeling-the gentle awe of being present as the world begins again.
