Kondalilla
Oil on canvas
'Kondalilla' is based on a spot in the Sunshine Coast hinterland I visit often - Kondalilla Falls. I wanted to captured the way the light filters through the trees and shifts across the rocks and water. A big part of the process was drawing out the subtle colours in the scene - muted greens, soft blues, the warmth in the shadows - that aren't always obvious at first glance. Rather than aiming for a precise copy of the landscape, I focused on how it feels to stand there for a while, watching how the light changes and the details slowly come into focus.
