Items of beauty and nostalgia are the inspirations for Glens Artwork. What he aspires to create is art of balance, of purity and serenity free from troubling or depressing subject matter. He wants his artwork to have a soothing, calming influence on the mind, rather like a good armchair which offers relaxation and comfort. Glen looks for the beauty in the world and uses painting as a means of escapism for both himself and the viewer. He generally engages objects that adorn his kitchen and dining room, when he uses these objects he sees them as a vocabulary of feelings. He spends a lot of time with objects, and they leave him as satisfied as a good meal. Glen wants the viewer of his work to feel joy, nostalgia and a bit of mirth.

About Glen Smith
A self-taught multimedia award winning artist with works in private collections throughout Australia and overseas. With passion for the arts Glen has been involved in the arts community of Ipswich for over 15 years. Receiving recognition from Ipswich City Council including 2018 Cultural Award and 2021 Ipswich Citizen of the Year. Glen has had several solo exhibitions including the Ipswich Art Gallery and being in over 200 group exhibitions. In his art career he has won many awards in local Competitions and was a finalist in the Flying Arts Regional Art Awards in 2024.
