Lumi Valo - Snow Light is a painting of a ski field in Vuokatti, Finland. The scene is shaped by snow-laden trees and soft, undulating terrain, where every surface is quieted under a thick, luminous blanket of snow.
I was particularly interested in how colour behaves in the cold—how shadows take on deep blues and violets, and how the rising sun introduces a restrained warmth. The light here is low and deliberate, stretching across the land and catching edges of branches, rooftops, and the crest of the hill.
Through this work, I aimed to capture not just the visual qualities of winter, but its atmosphere: a sense of pause, reflection, and heightened awareness.
