Main Beach

Acrylic on Canvas

"Main Beach called to me, a deep need for the ocean's grounding presence and the calming touch of salt water drawing me in. The summer sand, hot enough to melt the soles of my thongs, became a familiar path as I hauled my blue BCF trolley, laden with beach essentials - gazebo, camp chairs, esky, seemingly the kitchen sink itself. Yet, the trek was always worth it, culminating at the water's edge where heat haze shimmered off my feet. Closing my eyes, the ocean's murmur transformed into a playful whisper, a teasing reminder of 'where are the snags?''

About Mark Gibson

For me, living with ASD, ADHD, anxiety, and major depression means that my artistic practice is often characterised by a flurry of beginnings. The urge to explore new ideas is powerful, resulting in a rich tapestry of ongoing projects. The subjects that capture my imagination are invariably drawn from the profound connection I feel with nature - the invigorating scent of eucalyptus, the calming sounds of the natural world, and the breathtaking scale of mountains and oceans provide a constant source of inspiration and grounding.
