Mob on a gum tree

I find inspiration in the majestic presence of gum trees. Their trunks—twisted, textured, and often glowing with light—are mesmerising to me.
In Mob on a Gum Tree, I also wanted to capture the energy of a group of familiar birds. I’ve often watched noisy miners in action—small, bold, and impossibly loud as they band together to drive off much larger birds, even magpies.

Lucia is an award-winning children's book illustrator who loves to create whimsical characters and colouring with traditional techniques, mixing watercolour, acrylic, pencil and collage.
Born and bred in Livorno, Italy, she moved to Australia in 2007 and since then
she has illustrated more than thirty books. She currently lives on the Gold Coast.
