About Jane Allan

Jane Allan is an artist living with disability from Lennox Head in northern NSW. Due to her acquired spinal cord injury, she sits on the floor of her studio to create art pieces, rotating canvases and often painting from the side or upside down.
After a successful initial career in artistic pursuits, Jane studied physiotherapy and medicine and surgery at university.
Since returning to being an artist full time, Jane uses her background in medicine to help overcome her physical limitations.
Recent achievements include finalist in several art awards, private commissions and winning the Darling Portrait Prize Art Handlers Award.
