Joanne Adler
Pipi Catchers on Stradbroke Island

Watercolour

Pipi Catchers on Stradbroke Island, reflects a fleeting human connection to place. For a moment we catch a glimpse into the lives of these regular locals managing the tide line at Main Beach, as they search for pipis. Having spent many hours fishing in this spot over the years, it was a comforting joy to return to see that these beautiful little birds are still here, owning the beach and enjoying each other’s company in the bright midday sun, while the vast Pacific Ocean twists, cascades and bubbles behind them.
