Preece House

Preece House holds deep significance for the artist, having been home to her great-grandparents, grandparents, and parents. Built in the early 1940s in Price Street, Nerang, it originally stood on 1.5 acres spanning Price, White, and Nerang Streets.
Her great-grandparents were cedar cutters in the local hinterland, working with bullock teams fed and watered on the land behind the house. A few dairy cows were also kept for milk and meat. Both lived there until their passing.
Kiki’s grandfather later ran a local power pole erection business from the property. From 1994 to 2001, her parents continued the family’s connection to the home.
The land was eventually sold to the Gold Coast City Council, and the house was donated to the Nerang Community Group. Relocated to Bischoff Park and restored, it now serves as an art gallery and museum.
This work is Kiki’s ode to her grandparents, who adored her.

Samara also known as Kiki, is a spirited student whose life is shaped by Autism and Cri du Chat syndrome. These challenges do not define her; instead they enrich her unique perspective through art, she finds her voice with every brush stroke, she expresses feelings that words cannot hold, turning canvas into a place of freedom and possibility. Her work ranges from delicate sketches to vibrant, expressive colour. Each piece revealing her inner world. Art is more than a hobby for Samara it’s her refuge, her communication and her way of connecting with others through creativity and imagination.
