Reflection
Oil on gessoboard
Amid looming ecological uncertainty, this painting reflects on the interdependence between humanity and the natural environment.
Suspended weightlessly, organic naturalist motifs of an autumnal palette - representative of transition - intricately move and converge, a symbol of our own suspension amidst life and decay.
His gaze held out of frame, an older gentleman - representative of both resilience and fragility, a mirror of the condition of nature itself - appears at ease while his body fragments into his natural surroundings.
Evoking emotions of trust for our future, amidst shared vulnerabilities and challenges, 'Reflection', invites viewers to reflect on our mutual interdependence as the question arises, 'Which direction will we go?'
