Jasmin Seychell-Longfield
Silver Sparkles

Charcoal and Graphite

My mum calls her grey hair her “silver sparkles,” a quiet reflection of how she has learned to find beauty after heartache. Emerging early through personal loss, these strands speak to her strength and growth. In drawing her, I wanted to honour these sparkles, setting them against darker tones, drawing the viewer in toward the warmth and kindness that often emanates from a mother’s gaze. This hyper-realistic portrait of my mum was drawn in charcoal and graphite and invites reflection on ageing, resilience, and the evolving nature of beauty.

Size: 63 × 83 cm

About Jasmin Seychell-Longfield

I am an emerging artist who began drawing in 2020. Working primarily in charcoal and graphite, my practice centres on hyper-realism with a strong focus on portraiture and the human figure. I’m particularly drawn to capturing the rawness and authenticity of real bodies and faces, aiming to reflect the beauty found in everyday forms. Originally from the Sunshine Coast, I’ve lived in several states across Australia as well as overseas, experiences that continue to shape my artistic perspective
