Deborah Gabriel
Soaring towards the Light
Pastel
For the last few years I have focused on the natural elements in the environment. The complex makeup of some of these elements astounds me. Especially the detail in the trees and rocks that I have encountered. This monumental Strangler Fig tree clearly stood out as a perfect example of a living thing that endured the test of time with solid foundations reaching for the light. Anyone who is fortunate to witness these beauties in Maleny, Queensland, needs to thank and pay tribute to Mary Cairncross.
Size: 78 × 93 cm
