Solstice Dawn at Burleigh Heads
Oil on Canvas
My work explores the quiet dialogue between light, memory, and place. Inspired by the sunrise at summer solstice, this piece reflects a moment of stillness and renewal, when the light feels both gentle and powerful. The ever-changing sky and ocean become a space where time seems to pause.
Set in Burleigh Heads, a local beach that holds personal meaning, the painting captures not only the physical landscape but also the emotional atmosphere of the place. Layers of color and soft transitions of tone are used to express the subtle shifts of light as it emerges over the horizon.
The horizon itself suggests both distance and connection, inviting the viewer into a contemplative space. Through this work, I hope to evoke calm, presence, and a quiet awareness of nature’s rhythms, encouraging a deeper connection within and beyond the scene.
