Tale as Old as Time
Oil on Birch Panel
Australia's distinguishing iconic flora has historically presented a diverse and magnificent focus for numerous artists humbled by their eccentric beauty. These remarkably unusual and often rare specimens provoke a need to capture their majesty and the delight they indeed deliver.
The sampling and snippets of favourite staples Robur Banksia, Snowflake Corymbia Ficifolia, Secrest and Actinotus Helianthin ( Flannel Flowers),allow me to add my modest moment of pleasure connecting to those moments captured for posterity by artists over time,

About Kim Grivas
Kim Grivas is a passionate artist living and working on the beautiful south coast of NSW.
Her present practice embraces nature through observation, with expressive interpretations of her still life compositions, often sourced straight from her garden. Kim works in the alla prima style using luscious, richly pigmented and abundantly applied oil paints. She paints swiftly to reveal the flowers and foliage, alive and changing over the course of the day. Her palette is always limited to 4-6 colours including white. This enables her to mix and reproduce colours quickly to implement a fast and loose alla prima process.
