Denis Harrold
Teviot Falls – Nature’s Sculptor, Scenic Rim

Synthetic polymer on Italian Linen

Driving the Scenic Rim via 'The Head' road, we pause to marvel at the Teviot Falls. Boosted and plumped by recent rains, it plunges 80 meters into its self crafted gorge, sculpted over countless millennia. Startled rosellas explode in shards of crimson and blue. A satin bower bird alluringly and artistically arranges his eclectic collection of blue found objects. Pegs, plastic screw caps, snipits of nylon rope, and even a manganese blue chip packet (that should impress!). Our senses feast on the sumptuousness of it all. We suck in the forest cleansed hyper-oxygenated
air to the sound track of Bellbird chimes. Nature's plein air studio.

Size: 120 × 90 cm

Denis Charles Harrold (b. 1953, Toowoomba, Qld) is one of Queensland’s oldest emerging artists. Inspired by his great-grandfather’s sketchbooks, he developed a lifelong passion for art. Predominantly self-taught, Denis returned to painting after a 45-year hiatus, driven by enthusiasm for colour and storytelling. Denis explores the unique perspectives of creatures and individuals within landscapes, uncovering stories through vibrant interplay of colour, light, and subjects. Each painting invites viewers into his evolving artistic journey.
