Jess Laufer
The Commute

Acrylic paint

Driving to work each morning always feels the same—same road, same traffic lights, same frustrating traffic. But one morning, stopped along Bermuda Street, something shifted. The red light that usually irritates me suddenly revealed a moment of unexpected harmony: the bold red of the car ahead perfectly contrasted against the crisp blue sky. In that stillness, I saw beauty in the mundane. It reminded me that not every trip is the same—and sometimes, you just need to pause to truly see what’s around you.
