The Farm Shed – Walloon

Celebrating the old farm shed. This painting captures the quiet resilience and inevitable transformation of an original Queensland farm shed. Built from a patchwork of galvanized metal sheets and weathered hardwood timbers, the structure stands as a testament to rural ingenuity and endurance. Time, however, has begun to reclaim it—rust creeps through the iron, and vines and grasses gently engulf the base. The shed is no longer just a manmade object but part of the living landscape. In portraying its slow surrender to nature, I explore themes of impermanence, memory, and the dialogue between human endeavor and the natural world. This work invites reflection on what we leave behind and how, over time, even the most enduring symbols of labor return to the earth.
