THE LAST CATTLE FENCE
MIXED MEDIA
I tried to coney themes of time, abandonment, and the transformation of the Australian Outback. The weathered cattle fence, no longer taut or functional, stands as a solitary witness to the past.
Its crumbling form cuts through a vast, earthy landscape, where dark browns and blacks mingle with the soft, creamy tones of a fading sky. The fence is a quiet marker of an era now gone—the absence of cattle and the slow reclaiming of land by nature speak to the passage of time and the inevitability of change.
The viewer can reflect on the delicate balance between human presence and the wild expanse of the Outback, offering a meditation on memory, loss, and the enduring presence of the land.
The earthy palette and abstracted landscape evoke a timeless connection to the land, while the fence—once a boundary—now serves as a poignant symbol of of both separation and continuity.
