Bernadette Cannan
The Shore Remembers

Acrilyc on Canvas

This painting holds a quiet nostalgia for me. I was drawn to the contrast between the old, weathered boat resting in the sand and the sky alive with dramatic colours—vivid purples, fiery oranges, and soft pinks blending into the calm sea. As I painted, I felt the rhythm of the waves and the softness of the light just before nightfall. There’s something deeply peaceful about abandoned places like this, where time pauses and nature takes over. For me, painting this scene was a way to reflect, to breathe, and to celebrate the beauty of endings that feel like beginnings
