Annette Raff
The Sound of Shape

Watercolour on paper

The Sound of Shape invites the viewer into a quiet, contemplative space, where form and atmosphere hum in harmony. Overlapping shapes - perhaps stones, leaves, or planets, gather in a loose, rhythmic cluster. The limited palette of translucent moody blues and muted neutrals enhances the sense of calm. This piece was created intuitively, allowing the shapes to emerge gradually, guided by translucent washes of watercolour and the spaces left between them. Each element appears as if vibrating with the memory of sound or motion. The work plays with stillness and movement, with solidity and softness, offering no fixed interpretation, only suggestion.

Size: 26 × 18 cm
