Time Worn Country

Acrylic/Oil on Aluminium Composite Panel

The ancient mountains and weathered gum tree stand as symbols of permanence—forms shaped over immense spans of time. In contrast, the emus and man-made elements, such as the old vehicle and rustic buildings, represent the transient nature of life.

These human traces, though tangible, are temporary. They suggest presence, but also absence—reminders that time moves forward, regardless of us.

At the centre of the composition is the sun—the ultimate giver of life. Its light binds all elements together, illuminating both the enduring and the fleeting with equal significance.

Size: 123 × 77 cm

About Christopher Vidal

Chris Vidal is a contemporary realist artist based in Sydney, Australia. His passion for art began in childhood, leading him to study classical drawing at the School of Arts in Malta. Despite a successful career as a medical scientist, he taught himself oil painting and eventually left science to become a full-time professional artist.
Working from his Sydney home studio, he produces still lifes and travel-inspired Australian landscapes. Inspired by realist and impressionist masters as well as modern painters, his works appear in books, magazines, and private and corporate collections in Australia and internationally.
