Where The Waves Gently Speak

acrylic liners, oil paint

“Where The Waves Gently Speak” was inspired by a quiet moment at Fingal Head, during one of my travels along the NSW coast. I wanted to capture not just the view, but the feeling of being there: the softness and strength of the waves, the shifting light, and the ocean’s quiet power.
Through mixed media and fine acrylic linework, I shaped patterns and a sense of motion. The repeating marks and unexpected colours express the emotion of the moment — a feeling, a breath, a deep connection with nature. This painting is about contrast and harmony: light and shadow, calm and movement, all existing at once.
It’s less about what the eye sees and more about what the heart feels.

Size: 76 × 61 cm

About Tatiana Afonin

Tatiana Afonin is a self-taught artist based in Moreton Bay. Her paintings reflect a deep emotional connection to the local landscape — familiar views transformed by light, memory, and mood. Working primarily in oil, she blends classical techniques with bold, experimental touches. With a background in music education, the rhythms and flow of music often guide her brush. Tatiana began painting seriously a few years ago after completing several art courses. Since then, her work has been exhibited in Redcliffe and Brisbane and is held in private collections.
