As a child I was fascinated by the big grills of the old classic cars.
Standing eye level with the headlights, the front of the car was a face to me, it was alive.
Also with this piece I focus on the importance of cars to dogs and how one fact has impacted their lives. Everyone knows a dog loves a car tyre and having a leak on it but this was actually the beginning of long distance communication for dogs.
That car would then travel 50km to the next dog, then back again in 2 days with another message on the tyre …and so the telegraph began.

About Peter Dare

Peter Dare is a published Australian cartoonist/artist and painter best known as the creator of the much loved “KOOLROO” kangaroo cartoon strip which appeared in major newspapers around Australia and internationally for more than 21 years (1983-2004).
Also a successful exhibiting artist, Peter shows rich and creative imagination in his paintings and an ability to take in aspects of the world around us and convey it in a unique, colourful and humoristic way. “In cartooning I spent years working on telling a story and pondering to get a message across through visual image, and that’s what I love to do.
