Florence in Winter

Watercolour

When the heat and colour of the Summer are replaced with the sombre tones of winter there is still magic in this place. This monotone watercolour study was created in situ, over a 3 week period late last year.

Size: 65 × 35 cm

About Joanne Ellings

The garden has always been my haven; a contemplative safe place brimming with light, colour and movement. I celebrate the lives of nature’s small creatures.
A graduate from UniTas majoring in painting, drawing and ceramics, I commenced a career in teaching which led me to the Gold Coast 30 years ago.
My personal practice in fresco involves using pigments on a thin layer of drying lime. Pigments are permanently captured in their full intensity. Bee’s wax is layered to seal the work. Fresco is a sustainable art practice.
Contemporary fresco, acrylic, watercolour, and pencil.
Exhibitions: QLD, NSW, and TAS.
