Acrylic paint on canvas board

“Jarriparilla through the mist of time”
A vision by Keendahn, early King of the Gold Coast Kombumerri Tribe.

Artist Statement

The artist tries to capture his emotions and disbelief when Keendahn sees Jarriparilla (Surfers Paradise) rising through the mist. He was in a transient state of mind know well to ancient leaders.

This historic Kombumerri Worrier was once King of the Gold Coast tribe. How would he have reacted to this vision, seen from Currigee beach on South Stradbroke Island?

The artist reminds us that, like Keendahn, we too shall pass and become visions in the mist of time.

Keendahn or Billy Galleen b 1850- d 1901, walked 700 kilometres through the bush as a 12-year-old boy, from Rockhampton to Nerang in 1862. He escaped Native Police who had kidnapped him so that he would attack and remove other tribes far from his own land.
This went against Keendahn's upbringing.

Size: 100 × 70 cm
