“Pond Of The Enchanted Forest”

Q: Are they flying or swimming ?
A: The answer is simple upon reflection.
The viewer may soon realise they're looking into a pond of koi fish before dusk. The last of the day's light silhouette the nearby winter-bare trees, reflected in the pond along with the drifts of cloud still visible in the sky. Japanese maple leaves scattered on the water’s surface appear like stars in the sky, mingled with aged petals of spent Cherry Blossom.
I wanted to convey in this painting, a poignant reminder of how delicate and fleeting life is ... the fish appearing to ascend into the stars on their evolutionary path while the ephemeral clouds dissipate as the day is coming to it's end.
