FRESHWATER, RIPPLES AND TAILOR RUNS

This is one of my favourite Queensland beaches—a beautiful, long stretch of sand fringed by National Park. It is a well-known spot for tailor fishing from August to October when the famous Tailor Run sees crowds of fishermen line the shore, each hoping for the perfect run.
In this painting, I endeavoured to capture the serenity and stillness of a moment at the end of the season when the crowds and 4WDs have dispersed. It is quiet, there is the sparkle of light on shallow ripples, the smell of salt is in the air, and there is a distant sound of waves breaking beyond the sandbar.
Calm and nature are restored.
