Arranged in a simple glass vessel and set against a warm, minimal background, the composition invites contemplation of both strength and fragility within the natural world.
The King Protea, with its commanding bloom, becomes a focal point of resilience and dignity—almost regal in its stance—while the Banksia, with its textured cones and serrated foliage, offers a grounded counterpoint, rich in rhythm and detail. Together, they create a dialogue between boldness and intricacy, stillness and movement.
The restrained palette and careful attention to light allow each element to breathe, emphasising form, surface, and tonal harmony. The transparency of the glass jug contrasts with the solidity of the wooden base, reinforcing a sense of balance between permanence and transience.
This work reflects my ongoing interest in elevating native botanical subjects beyond the everyday.
