Pure as Gold
Oil paint on board
This oil painting is inspired by my late father, Ralph Wilson, who spent many years breeding his own varieties of the exquisite Bearded iris. I remember feeling so much joy whenever I came home, walking around the garden with him he’d show me all his new flowers and even get me to try and pollinate some manually. It was a beautiful, shared time we had together. My dad was also a gold mining fanatic, he loved detecting and hunting for gold, so it seemed fitting that this painting be called “Pure as Gold”.
The light captured through the delicate petals is, to me, his spirit.
Size: 30 × 30 cm
