Looking for This – Autumn Persistence
Oil on Wood Panel
My practice examines memory, kinship, and our relationship with place. In my latest body of works set in Australian landscapes, the emu and the everlasting daisy act as symbolic motifs, one rooted, the other moving, through which I reflect on resilience, belonging, and companions who guide us.

About Sean Crookes
Sean Crookes is a contemporary visual artist whose work explores domestic life, kinship, and belonging. His first solo exhibition, Generations (QCA Galleries, 2020), traced three years of family interactions across three generations, capturing the humour, tenderness, and tensions of home life.
He later developed Four Score and More, focusing on his parents’ experience of love, loss, and dementia.
While rooted in personal narratives, Crookes’ paintings resonate with broad human experience, inviting viewers to reflect on their own connections.
His latest interest extends his enquiry outdoors, to include friendship, community, environment, and relationship to place.
