Mitta Mitta River Below The Dart
Oil
Having spent my early childhood years on a dairy farm located on the Mitta Mitta River in the beautiful Mitta Valley I have always wanted to capture on canvas its enduring mystique.
In 1973 work started on the Dartmouth Dam in the upper reaches of the Mitta Mitta River, NE Victoria. It was widely feared that the Dam would destroy the beauty and freedom of this magnificent river along with the local farming communities. The dam was completed in 1979. Fast forward 47 years and the Mitta Mitta River has not only endured the turmoil but has retained its beauty, meandering freedom and still supports the Mitta Valley farming communities.
